Residencies
Our Artist in Residence programs give artists of all disciplines the time and space to develop creative projects in a supportive environment surrounded by beautiful bushland. With a range of opportunities to interact with the community and local artists, artists in residence find encouragement, rejuvenation and inspiration for their creative process.
Self-funded Residency
Poatina Arts offers very popular self-funded residencies. Accommodation and arts facilities are available, subject to negotiation. They include:

work-spaces for hire in the Poatina Glass Studio and Mountain Retreat Arts Centre, Studio on the Spur Recording Studio, or Ceramics Studio

a range of other options suitable for performance and other art-forms

reasonably priced accommodation options

we can provide a letter of acceptance to support funding applications
A wide range of artists have joined us for as short as a few days or weeks and others for as long as a whole year. They have come from just down the road and as far away as Greece and Sweden.
Funded Residency
Our annual four-week residencies are some of the many amazing opportunities offered to Tasmanian artists.
From performing arts and photography to environmental sculpture and ceramics, our visiting artists never fail to develop new and amazing ideas, bringing vitality and wonder to our little community as they share their process and their work.
Both emerging and professional practitioners find this opportunity enlivens them, fosters their creativity and fuels development of their practice.
